Travel with a Purpose
Cambodia
8 Days. A Cultural Experience of a Lifetime
Engage in meaningful service through Kids Play International, where sport is used to empower girls and educate boys in Cambodia for over 8 years. This isn’t just volunteering — it’s about real connection, learning from the people you meet, and truly experiencing a culture from the inside. You will be staying at safe and comfortable accommodations
This journey is designed for individuals ready to step out of their comfort zone and are willing to experience and delve into a new culture.
This isn’t just travel. It’s a journey that inspires personal growth, meaningful connection, and inner strength. This journey is a transformative travel experience designed to blend conscious leadership, cultural immersion, service, and reflection.
Here’s what makes this trip unique:
-
Full-Body Yes Approach
This isn’t just about seeing Rwanda — it’s about feeling it. Every step, every encounter, every reflection is designed to engage your mind, body, and heart. -
Intentional Integration of Growth Edge Work
I structure the journey to stretch your edges safely: stepping into discomfort, noticing your habitual patterns, and choosing conscious responses. By practicing leadership in real situations — from trekking the hills to immersive service projects — you learn not just about the world, but about yourself. -
Cultural Connection, Not Tourism
You'll engage in a meaningful service project, creating a lasting impact in Kids Play’s local community and learn and experience their way of life. By being in genuine relationship with others, you’ll see the impact of your choices, and the ways you show up in your own life. -
Reflection and Integration Built In
Transformation only sticks when there’s space to process it. Each part of the trip includes intentional rest, reflection, and journaling — and post-trip integration ensures the lessons come home with you.

After leading 15+ expeditions I've witnessed beautiful transformations. Some 'souvenirs' you may come home with:
-
Greater clarity about what you truly want
-
Heightened self-awareness and the ability to tap into your feelings
-
Confidence in your choices, voice, and presence
-
Stronger communication skills
-
An authentic connection to yourself, your values, and your community
-
A lived experience of leadership, resilience, and curiosity
Led By Courtney Lewallen
I’ve spent over a decade leading transformational journeys — from expeditions across the globe to conscious leadership programs for women and organizations. I bring a unique blend of experiential adventure, leadership coaching, and deep cultural immersion to every trip. My approach isn’t about doing it all for you — it’s about holding the space so you can step fully into yourself, meet your edges with curiosity and courage, and return home stronger, clearer, and more aligned than ever.

Frequently Asked Questions
Your safety and well-being are my top priorities. While no travel experience can come with a 100% guarantee, I am diligent in selecting safe, well-established providers for all travel, excursions, and activities. Every decision — from accommodations to guides to logistics — is made with your health, comfort, and security in mind. My goal is to ensure you can fully enjoy the trip, focus on the experience, and return home with your best memories, confident that you were well cared for throughout your journey. I am happy to answer any questions that you have.
We completely understand the question about safety and want each volunteer to feel fully educated and safe while traveling. According to Lonely Planet, “As memories of war grow ever more distant, Cambodia has become a much safer country in which to travel. Remembering the golden rule – stick to the marked paths in remote areas – means you’d be very unlucky to have any problems”.
We fly INTO Phnom Penh International Airport (PNH) and OUT of Siem Reap International Airport (REP)
Cambodia is located right in the middle of South East Asia and a central southern part of the Indochina Peninsula. It shares its border with 3 equally amazing countries with the Thailand to the North and West, and Vietnam to the South and East while Laos is at the North.

The Cambodian currency is called Riel. However, most Cambodians use US dollars as well as their own currency. Most all shops and restaurants quote prices in US dollars.
Yes! It is required to purchase travel insurance before traveling with Traverse Beyond. I have resources for you upon request.
Like most of Southeast Asia, Cambodia is warm to hot year round. We are traveling during the cool and end of the wet season. Cool is a relative term in Southeast Asia, temperatures will still be in the upper 80’s to low 90’s with high humidity. By October the frequency of rain is usually dropping off considerably, but it’s still recommended to bring a light raincoat!
